CBN’s Government is taking proactive measures to overcome depleting water tables and water crises during harsh summers. A large number of water conservation structures are being taken up, one of them being construction of soak pits. Constructed in minimal space and requiring very little time, investment, and maintenance effort, Soak Pits are proving to be a boon for residents in rural areas. During the last 3 years, more than 6.5 lakh soak pits are constructed at a cost of Rs.108 crores. Minister Nara Lokesh is keen to increase the numbers during the following 2 years and create a sustainable impact on the water situation in villages.
